Sentinel
...WG’s new EAS-concept combining RFID and EAS-functions in ONE system
Features and specifications subject to change without notice
Sentinel is a new EAS-concept using RFID technology and EAS-functions in one
system, overcoming current security problems of traditional EAS and RFI.
Other than traditional EAS-systems which are only overlooking the exit of a store.
Sentinel is creating a field throughout the sales or storage area. Sentinal allows
products to be carried free within the control-field perimeters. Tags in this area are
receiving signals from descrete field RAD-Antennas mounted on the ceiling. As
long as the tags are recurringly receiving these signals they feel "well" and
eventually they might even go to sleep mode to safe battery life time.
l
Sentinel - 6 alarm extreme security system
1: If a tag is tampered i.e. by a tool to break it or cut the lanyard of a Sentinel lanyard tag, a 95 db loud tamper
alarm will go off.
2: When a Sentinel tag is opened, the detacher reads its unique RFID-code or number and hands it over to the
retailers POS-system. At the same time the sales-RAD transmits a RFID signal to the tag to disable the alarm and set
the tag into "rest-mode". An opening attempt by a non authorized detacher will instantly result in an alarm.
3+4: At the exit of a store, a EAS-RAD is positioned. It receives tag signals and transmits a EAS field. If a tag
receives this EAS-signal, it will immediately start alarming.
Simultaniously with the tag starting its EAS-Alarm, the EAS-RAD above the door will as well make alarm. -
Just as regular EAS systems.
5: For the first time ever in EAS-history Sentinel Tags will analyze itself the signals and cause an alarm if a
shoplifter tries to shield the EAS-function, i.e. by metal foil.
Attempts to jam the system will result in an alarm as well.
6: And if a tag is leaving the protected zone, the tag will recognize that and start alarming as well. When the
tag is brought back to the zone, the alarm stops, as the reason is gone.
Many functions, but in normal operation the user does not need to know all this. He simply activates the tag at a
sales Rad. If he uses the RFID function he ties product information to the unique RFID-code.
When he sells the product, he reads the RFID-code and disables the tag.
Easy and reliable, and with extremely discrete antennas to please high end aesthetics.
